In an ancient time of celestial battles, the gods found themselves besieged by relentless demons. Seeking aid, they turned to the mighty Vishnu, knowing his prowess in protecting the cosmos.
However, Vishnu, in his wisdom, knew that victory against such formidable foes required more than his strength alone. He turned to the great ascetic Shiva, who was immersed in deep meditation, seeking his counsel and assistance.
To invoke the great god, Vishnu began a profound ritual of devotion. He vowed to offer one thousand lotus blossoms to Shiva each day. For years, he patiently continued this sacred offering, his dedication unwavering.
Pleased by this devotion but wishing to test its absolute depth, Shiva decided to intervene. On what was to be the final day, he stealthily hid one of the lotus blossoms. As Vishnu was about to complete his offering, he realized he was one flower short. He searched everywhere, but no replacement could be found.
Determined to fulfill his vow at any cost, Vishnu made an extraordinary sacrifice. Known as Kamal Nayan (the Lotus-Eyed One), he realized his own eye resembled a lotus. Without hesitation, he plucked it out and offered it to complete the ritual.
Deeply moved by this ultimate act of devotion, Shiva appeared before him in his full glory. In recognition of Vishnu’s boundless sacrifice, he bestowed upon him a divine gift: the Sudarshan Chakra. This celestial discus possessed unparalleled power, capable of destroying any evil that threatened cosmic order.
Armed with the Sudarshan Chakra, Vishnu continued his divine duty, upholding righteousness and maintaining the balance of the universe for all time.
