- भूर्भुवः स्वः (Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ):
- Bhūr: The physical plane, Earth, embodiment of vital spiritual energy (Prana).
- Bhuvaḥ: The subtle/astral plane, Atmosphere, destroyer of sufferings.
- Svaḥ: The causal plane, Heaven, embodiment of happiness.
These three vyahritis invoke the essence of the three worlds.
- तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं (Tat Savitur Vareṇyaṃ):
- Tat: That (referring to the ultimate Reality, Brahman).
- Savitur: Of Savitr (the divine solar deity, the Impeller, the vivifying power of the Sun, the source of all light and life).
- Vareṇyaṃ: Adorable, excellent, worthy of worship, most choicable.
- Meaning: “That adorable, divine light of Savitr…”
- भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि (Bhargo Devasya Dhīmahi):
- Bhargo: Radiance, effulgence, divine light (which destroys ignorance, sins, and afflictions).
- Devasya: Of the Divine (God/Deity).
- Dhīmahi: We meditate upon, we contemplate.
- Meaning: “…upon that divine radiance (of Savitr), we meditate.”
- धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् (Dhiyo Yo Naḥ Pracodayāt):
- Dhiyo: Intellect, understanding, prayers, consciousness.
- Yo: Who, which.
- Naḥ: Our.
- Pracodayāt: May inspire, illuminate, guide, impel, awaken.
- Meaning: “May He (that divine light) illuminate our intellect.”

“Om. We meditate on the adorable glory of the radiant Savitr, the Divine Light, who is the reality of the physical, astral, and celestial worlds. May He inspire and illumine our intellect.”
